Dear Hooley Residents Association.
We’re writing to let you know that the 40mph speed limit along the A23 Brighton Road through Hooley village will be reduced to 30mph in both directions from Monday 31 March 2025.
The speed limit northbound from M23 junction 7, as it continues along the A23, will also be reduced. This is to provide a safe step-down towards the new 30mph speed limit through Hooley village.
The M23 junction 7 exit slip road (northbound)
- the new speed limit will be 50mph (reduced from 70mph)
The A23 London Road North between M23 junction 7 and Hooley village (northbound)
- the new speed limit will be 40mph (reduced from 50mph)
The A23 Brighton Road between south of Dean Lane and north of Netherne Drive (northbound and southbound)
- the new speed limit will be 30mph in both directions (reduced from 40mph)
New speed limit signs have been installed in preparation for these changes and they will be legally enforceable from 12:01am on Monday 31 March 2025. Please find attached a copy of a letter which has been sent to residents in Hooley and Netherne on the Hill this week.
